World Youth Skills Day recognises our global youth and future leaders. This year’s theme, ‘Skilling Teachers, Trainers, and Youth for a Transformative Future’ draws attention to the impact educators and trainers have in equipping young people with the skills they need to engage meaningfully in their communities.
We salute the Change Makers who contribute to volunteer leadership. Through your guidance and empowerment of young people, you are cultivating a sense of empathy, teamwork, development of skills and modelling what values and passion for community looks like.
Volunteering is a great opportunity for young people to step into the working world. Volunteering can bring job and transferrable skills, communication skills, experience, contacts, and increased self-confidence. All of these can help in the search for and gaining employment.
We can all actively support and encourage young people to become Change Makers. We can create an environment that nurtures their skills, amplifies their voices, and enables them to thrive. Let’s work on building a future where young people feel empowered and nurtured to contribute to positive change.
Our global youth have so much to offer as creative innovators and passionate advocators. Let’s all take the time to harness their potential for a transformative future.
Let’s celebrate and empower our youth today and every day.
