Meet Livio, a volunteer at St Mary’s Senior Football & Netball Club, sharing their journey as part of our ‘Share Your Story’ series.
Decades of Dedication
“After three decades of volunteering at St Mary’s, I have no plans on slowing down. Each week I still man the bar on a Thursday and Saturday, am the Team Manager for the U19.5s, a player advocate at the tribunal, and with 15 years of experience as a trainer, jump in to help when needed.”
Love for the Sport and the Club
“I just love the sport (AFL) and the Club. St Mary’s has always been accepting, even of a quietly spoken man with Italian heritage whose name they couldn’t quite spell initially.”
Importance of Youth Opportunities
“It’s also important for me to give the opportunity for our youth to play this great game. If people don’t volunteer, unfortunately it just doesn’t happen. There’s always a lack of volunteers and it’s just not in me to stand on the sidelines.”
Pride in Growth and Community
“It’s been such a pleasure to watch the club continue to grow and I’m so proud to be part of it. You will experience such pride and joy from being actively involved in supporting something you, your kids, or even grandkids care about. Knowing that you’re part of creating a positive environment for others to enjoy is deeply fulfilling.”
