Meet Wayne, a volunteer at St Mary’s Senior Football & Netball Club sharing their journey as part of our ‘Share Your Story’ Series
Family Beginnings
“It all began in 1994 when my kids, Liam and Sean, joined the Junior Footy Club. Like any parent, Liz and I wanted to support them in their endeavours, and that’s where our journey with St Mary’s began. This family connection ignited a sense of belonging and purpose within the club community.”
Evolving Involvement
“We found ourselves always eager to lend a hand when needed; what started as simple parental involvement soon evolved into wanting to play a role in the club’s success which continues for me today.”
Creating Lifelong Connections
“Our involvement began with our boys playing footy, but it’s grown into so much more. Although neither of our sons even played at the Senior Club, we’ve made lifelong friends and cherished memories along the way. That’s what volunteering is all about.”
