The Australian Government is investing in the future of volunteers, allocating $10 million in funding through the 2023-24 Volunteer Grants Opportunity.
Supporting Communities Nationwide
Community organisations across Australia are set to benefit from the funding with grants ranging from $1000 to $5000 to empower organisations to better assist their volunteers.
Empowering Volunteers’ Efforts
This funding is intended to have a tangible impact on the lives of volunteers. The grants will support volunteers by providing small portable equipment purchases, contributions towards the cost of training, reimbursement of fuel costs and undertaking background screening checks.
Recognising Volunteer Dedication
Minister for Social Services Amanda Rishworth said, “more than six million people volunteer each year across Australia, freely giving their time and skills to help others and it is important they are supported to make this contribution”.
Making a Difference Together
Volunteers play pivotal roles – from disaster relief to aiding the vulnerable and supporting local endeavours. These grants enable community organisations to bolster volunteers and the broader volunteering sector.
Encouraging Inclusivity and Participation
With a focus on diversity, these grants strive to foster inclusivity for volunteers with varying needs. Additionally, the aim is to inspire a greater number of individuals to participate in volunteering.
Strengthening Community Bonds
Awarding grants at the local level ensures that communities are at the centre of volunteering. This bolsters our resilient volunteering sector, ensuring its continued impact.
