Meet Joanne, a volunteer at Lifeflight – Bundaberg, sharing their journey as part of our ‘Share Your Story’ series.
Inspiration from the 2013 Floods
“I was inspired to volunteer during the Floods of 2013 in Bundaberg. Our son works for Ergon, being part of the team to bring Bundy back online. The hours that he worked, being able to support him with a hot meal at night and a good sleep, to be able to get up and do it all again. This is the time I started volunteering for LifeFlight.”
Supporting the Community
“Knowing that I was doing the little things, so they could do what needed to be done. Being able to share with the community what LifeFlight does and how the community can support. How we in turn can support our community groups by volunteering with them.”
Heartwarming Stories
“To listen to stories from those that have been supported, whether themselves, family or friends, by LifeFlight, reinforces what I do. To share the stories, but to hear them told to us by the recipient is heartwarming and reinforces why I do what I do.”
