International Youth Day is an opportunity to celebrate young people, their individualism and energy. This is also a day to recognise the unique challenges young people face and to stand beside them whilst advocating for avenues that provide agency to make decisions that pertain to their lives.
This week we have celebrated National Student Volunteer Week and these philosophies of empowerment underpin what volunteering can achieve for young people. Volunteering gives youth the power to give back in ways that are meaningful to them. Today’s global society can benefit greatly from these qualities.
If we nurture young people’s individual traits and address the barriers they face then we will assist youth on their way to live their best lives in their own special way.
