Meet Sadie, a Legal Literacy volunteer with Launceston Library, sharing their story as part of our ‘Share Your Story’ series.
Volunteering at the Launceston Community Legal Centre
When I retired, I saw a flyer asking for volunteers at a local business. For quite a few years now, I’ve volunteered for the Launceston Community Legal Centre as a Legal Literacy Volunteer. My colleague and I spend three hours per week at the Launceston Library, helping people with all sorts of queries and referring legal matters to the legal team at the office.
The Rewards of Volunteering
I find the whole experience of volunteering extremely rewarding. I’m challenged at every session and learn something new every week. Getting help with even the simplest of things can send our clients off with a smile on their face, feeling that their problem isn’t quite so overwhelming.
Encouraging Others to Volunteer
Don’t hesitate to volunteer your time! We can all make a difference in a world that is increasingly complex.
