Meet Isobelle, a Volunteer with Pets of Older Persons (POOPs) WA and K9 Rescue Group Mandurah, sharing her journey as part of our ‘Share Your Story’ series.
Taking the Leap
“I was in a very isolated situation and I took the leap to try out volunteering. Once I started, it gave me the opportunity to meet new people, expand my confidence, and help my community at the same time.”
Encouragement to Future Volunteers
“I would say, ‘Go for it!’ Everyone I volunteer with are such great people and there’s less pressure with volunteering than a paid workplace. I’ve gained lifelong friends through volunteering who I would never have met otherwise. Through volunteering, I’ve also learnt that I’m very passionate about rescuing animals and I want to take that further through study and work in the future.”
No Looking Back
“Once you take the leap to volunteer, you’ll never look back.”
