Meet Susan, a volunteer at Dot’s Place, Peel , sharing their journey as part of our ‘Share Your Story’ Series.
Inspired to Give Back
“I was inspired to ‘give back’ by volunteering after having successful radiotherapy treatment at GenesisCare, Mandurah and following my father’s recent passing which was cancer-related.”
Volunteering at Dot’s Place, Peel
“I commenced in an administration support role 6 months ago and absolutely love working with the Centre and Support Coordinators plus other volunteers (who offer complementary therapies, wig fitting, bus driving, and gardening services).”
Observing the Impact
“During this time I have observed many clients feeling comforted and most appreciative of this support during their difficult cancer journey.”
Community Resource
“I have found Dot’s Place Peel to be an all-inclusive and fabulous community resource, available to anyone affected by cancer to access. The Cancer Council WA plays a terrific overarching role in all aspects of support and is to be commended for this.”
Encouragement to Future Volunteers
“Go for it! You will get more out of it than you put in. Personal satisfaction guaranteed.”
