Student volunteer programs play an important part in university life across Australia. These programs offer an opportunity to develop valuable skills whilst contributing to the wellbeing of students and communities.
Griffith Mates will be joining in the National Student Volunteer Week celebrations and are an inspiring example of students building stronger communities and being Better Together through volunteering.
Griffith Mates celebrated completing more than 800 volunteer hours for student events at Griffith University during 2021. It’s a wonderful achievement for the students across 30 countries and a credit to Griffith Mates for their volunteering initiatives.
Nadia, Griffith Mates Coordinator explains, “Volunteering throughout your student journey can play such a pivotal role in your university experience and professional career. The Griffith Mates program empowers students by giving them real life professional experience, in which they can refine their employability skills and enhance their resume.
“The program creates leadership opportunities for our student volunteers, who are supported and mentored by the Student Experience Staff team throughout a multifaceted variety of volunteer roles.
“The Griffith Mates student volunteers give back to the community, whilst working as part of a team, and expanding their networks. Griffith Mates love that the program is a safe space to facilitate new friendships and have fun.
“Investing your time to volunteer as a student is a highly rewarding way to invest in yourself and your future,” Nadia said.
